Guests are welcome to make use of Dugong’s Cabo Ocean Kayak. It’s a very large (and quite heavy) 2.5 person sit-on-top with rudder and padder seats.

USE OF THE KAYAK IS STRICTLY AT THE DISCRETION AND LIABILITY OF THE GUEST USING IT.
Dugong Crescent will not be held responsible for any mishaps involving the kayak, if you are not comfortable and confident both on a kayak and in the water, please exercise common sense and leave the kayak on the pontoon.

2 kayak style PFD’s are attached to the kayak. Use them.

For people who have kayaked before:

The Cabo is a very stable, smooth kayak, it’s stable enough for beginners, and large and smooth enough for camping/exploring. Feel free to wander about the canals and even out the creeks and into Pumicestone Passage on calm days. It has rod holders if you fancy some fishing along the way. It can take 2 adults and a child (between the rear paddler’s feet).

A little more info for first-time kayakers:

When using this kayak, the more competent/heavier/stronger paddler uses the rearward seat where he/she can also use the rudder. The forward paddler dictates the rhythm, while the rearward one matches pace and handles steering and control. Everything works better if paddlers stay “in synch”. If you are inexperienced, PLEASE stay close to the pontoon. Bear in mind, there is no ladder on the pontoon at Dugong yet, so please ensure anyone on the kayak is strong enough to haul themselves back on board, and have someone on lookout on the pontoon to assist people getting back out of the water.

If you capsize, paddlers should move to either end of the yak and flip it back over, once done one person can stabilise the kayak while the other scrambles back on board.

The pontoon will be getting a ladder early in 2016.
